RE: Sweet Potato Casserole???

Sweet Potato Casserole 1 2lb can sweet potatoes 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter 2 eggs unbeaten 1 tsp vanilla 1/3 cup milk Drain potatoes and add to large bowl. Add all ingredients and mix with electric mixer. Pour into a casserole dish. Topping 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup flour 1 1/2 TBS. melted butter 1/2 cup walnut pieces Melt butter and add rest of ingredients. Sprinkle evenly on top of casserole. Bake @350 for 25 min. or microwave 15-18 minutes on high. I have always done it in the microwave. This sounds like the recipe I use, only I used canned yams and pecans instead of walnuts. It is yummy! The topping tastes like praline.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

On the subject of paper towels, I use the paper towels from the automotive department, sometimes they are red, but usually they are blue. I use them for washing and drying dishes. They are even sturdier than Viva.

RE: Has anyone used a 'SHAMWOW!!!"

I think it has more of a felt texture than micro fiber. I have some micro fiber towels and I'm not impressed with the micro fiber towels. I have some shamwows, but I haven't had occasion to use one yet. It's definately not chamois.

RE: game day food

Lasagna, salad, and garlic bread are easy. Make the lasagna the day before and you can enjoy your party.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

I use plastic shoe boxes too! I keep them in the rv fridge. I keep sandwich makings in one so everything we need for making a sandwich is all together. When we pull over for a quick lunch all I have to remove from the fridge is the shoe box and mayo. Not only is it easier to find everything, I don't have to keep the fridge door open as long. When I'm packing for a trip I put other things I'll use together in a shoe box together, like salad stuff. I have one on the top shelf of the fridge to hold small containers such as sour cream, an open can of Coke, margarine, cream cheese, etc.

RE: Glass top/ceramic cooktop question

My mom used cast iron on her Corning top for 35 years, and the top still works and look good.

RE: Recipes for cocktail hour? (easy/showy/on the grill stuff)

Check irondesert.com for chile grills. They also have some on ebay that are cheaper because they are seconds. After being blackened on a hot grill you probably can't see the mistakes.

RE: Is my kid normal??

My kid kept saving her tokens from an arcade, she wanted something big. She waited too long and they went out of business. Then all she had was milk jug full of tokens.

RE: To Glaze or not to Glaze, is that the question?

I like glaze unless it's a smoked ham.

RE: Just Venting!

I once hear a comedian say that camping is when people pack up everything they own, drive a long way to spend sleep in the woods, and pretend they don't have a house.

RE: "Best Meals in a Truck Camper"

Oh, ok, thanks! It was the "shell" part that confused me. I don't think any stores around here keep tortillas in a cooler since there's such a fast turnover.

RE: rotten meat smell- UPDATE - UPDATE

If it gets down to replacing the paneling, why don't you try priming and painting it first? It might be easier and cheaper than replacing it.

RE: Just Venting!

Teddy Roosevelt didn't rough it when he camped. He had servants who did all the chores. Since most of us don't have a host of servants, we use some pretty cool devices to help out so we can have more time to relax. As for all those tv shows you mention, I agree with Skipnchar. I'd have to turn those on before I could turn them off, even at home.

RE: "Best Meals in a Truck Camper"

We've been making Taquitos for the past few trips for breakfast. This recipe makes 10 of them and they heat up great in the microwave for a quick breakfast. I just prepare them at home before we head out. Taquitos: 1 package Jimmy Deans sausage (we use Hot even though I don’t care for spicy foods) 1 package soft tortilla shells (10 pack - I use the ones from refrigerated section) 1 dozen eggs 1 package shredded cheese 1 jar salsa Directions: Brown sausage. Mix in eggs. Set individual tortilla shells on squares of Glad Press N Seal. Place a row of shredded cheese on tortilla. Place sausage/egg mixture on top of cheese then roll into taco shape and seal with Press N Seal. Store in Ziploc bag (gallon storage size works great). When ready to eat, microwave for approximately 1 minute. Pour salsa on top and enjoy. Delicious! Dave. What is a soft tortilla shell? I've never seen tortillas of any type in the refrigerated section, what are they near?

RE: Removing mineral scale from sink - ???

CLR is a product, but the letters stand for Calcium, Lime, and Rust. It works really well. I thought my rv kitchen drain was clogged on one side. Turns out it was the strainer was built up with crud. I tried CLR and I tried chiselling it with a screwdriver. The stuff wouldn't budge. Ended up having to replace the strainer. http://a1061.g.akamai.net/7/1061/5412/home/www.walgreens.com/dbimagecache/308416.jpg
